TMC provides supported pathways to skills training through projects including WorkAble and Skills Coaching

We also help jobseekers to be job-ready through workshops and one on one opportunities.

We currently offer Community Work Skills programs under the Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative. 

Skilling Queenslanders for Work provides skills development, training and job opportunities to unemployed, disengaged, or disadvantaged Queenslanders through a suite of targeted skills and training programs.

This Skilling Queenslanders for Work project is proudly funded by the Queensland Government.

Community foundation SKills

FSK20119 - Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Placement

This qualification is the ultimate springboard to vocational training or a dream career. It is designed to elevate learner’s foundation skills and prepare for entering the workforce or pursuing further study pathways. Boost your confidence and really go places. Learn:

  • valuable employability skills
  • entry level digital literacy
  • emotional intelligence in the workplace
  • reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication and learning skills at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 3.

Those seeking further pathways for employment or a development of vocational training.

Entry requirements

You will need to have language, literacy and numeracy skills (LLN) that allow you to read and interpret information and prepare documents at a moderate to advanced level. TMC may conduct an LLN assessment as part of the pre-enrolment process.

Pathways

This qualification offers pathways to employment through the development of skills needed for workforce entry or vocational training pathways.

COMMUNITY WORK SKILLS - WorkAble 2022

CHC33015 - CERTIFICATE III IN INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT (AGING, HOME AND COMMUNITY OR DISABILITY)

This qualification will equip you with the skills to provide a high level of personal, physical and emotional support to clients with high care needs.

This qualification will allow you to secure a community care role in one of the three sectors listed below.

Course duration is 4-6 months.

This training includes 120 hours of vocational placement.

FBP30117 - CERTIFICATE III FOOD PROCESSING

This course is designed to help you establish your career in the Food or Logistics Industries or increase your current skills. With a wide range of jobs to choose from, you could be working on a processing line, in a production facility, or in the logistics department on dispatch or receival.

Course duration is 10 weeks months.

CHC30113 - CERTIFICATE III IN CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE

This rewarding career offers you everyday opportunities to make a real difference and be a positive influence in shaping young lives.
It is also a great time to start a career in early childhood within this rapidly expanding sector. People with the right qualifications are in demand.

Course duration is 5-6 months.

This training includes 120 hours of vocational placement.

Frequently asked questions

These are fully funded courses. We just need to assess your eligibility to participate. Some criteria applies. 

Key target groups for SQW include: young people (15-24 years), including those in and transitioned from out-of-home care

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

• mature age jobseekers (45+ years)

• people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

• people with disability

• women re-entering the workforce

• veterans, ex-Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families.

More broadly, disadvantaged jobseekers and underutilised Queensland workers are able to access assistance under SQW. Participants who fall into this category do not have to belong to one of the target groups listed above.

Participants must be:

• Queensland residents

• aged 15 years or older

• an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on a pathway to employment.

TMC offers participants a range of wrap around services that include:

Stationary supplies

Study assist for assignments/coaching/mentoring

Tutoring available Tuesdays and Thursdays 9am-3pm

To enroll in the program you need to email info@migrancetre.org or call 07 5591 7261 to organise an appointment. We can assess your eligibility over the phone, however forms need to be completed in person. Don’t forget to bring two forms of identification. (Driver’s Licence and Medicare card for example). Proof of Visa may be required for temporary entrants or partner visa holders.
