TMC provides supported pathways to training through our projects, including: Community Work Skills, Community Foundation Skills and Skill Up.

Through workshops and one-on-one support, we also help people improve their work readiness skills.

We currently offer Community Work Skills programs under the Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative.

Frequently asked questions

These are fully funded courses. We just need to assess your eligibility to participate. Some criteria applies. 

Key target groups for SQW include: young people (15-24 years), including those in and transitioned from out-of-home care

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

• mature age jobseekers (45+ years)

• people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

• people with disability

• women re-entering the workforce

• veterans, ex-Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families.

More broadly, disadvantaged jobseekers and underutilised Queensland workers are able to access assistance under SQW. Participants who fall into this category do not have to belong to one of the target groups listed above.

Participants must be:

• Queensland residents

• aged 15 years or older

• an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on a pathway to employment.

To enroll in the program you need to email info@migrancetre.org or call 07 5591 7261 to organise an appointment. We can assess your eligibility over the phone, however forms need to be completed in person. Don’t forget to bring two forms of identification. (Driver’s Licence and Medicare card for example). Proof of Visa may be required for temporary entrants or partner visa holders.
